ModernAuthorize lets you maintain control of all your customers information. Third-party processors require that you use their html pages to transact your business. One practical effect of this limitation is that the processor holds your customers billing information. This is particularly true with regard to credit card information. It means that you will not have access to your customers charge card information to bill for late fees, overages, addons, and one off purchases. For every single transaction you want to make with your client, you need to set up an html page with your processor to achieve the sale.

More inconvenient is what will occur when you decide to move to a better processor. As your credit card information is being held by the processor with no way for you to access it, when you do move processors, your customers will be required to come into your billing program and enter their information again. This provides them the escape hatch necessary if they were thinking about leaving your product.

There is also no effective way for your customers to update their credit card information if they have failed to pay due to expiration, decline, or cancellation. This can cause undue delay in you receiving your funds and will increase support costs.
